At full power it's certainly quieter than an old fridge, but it has enough noise that I'm a bit concerned. It goes on and off and ramps as needed automatically. But as you go up in output it will require the fan. I found if I run it at 10% in normal room temperature, the fan doesn't turn on at all. If the unit gets too hot the first fan will turn on at a lower speed, then if needed it will go faster, then the second fan will turn on, then both at full speed. This is the only concern I still have about the unit. I was reassured in most reviews that it was very quiet. I just make sure I loop the power cable so it's not adding pull.
The connection point is close to the balance point. It's intended to be left at a set tension (takes a bit of force to move it, and you don't tighten/loosen).
No concerns for me on output.īefore buying I was a bit concerned about the yolk attachment. Normally I don't even make use of strong natural light, so with that in mind, it definitely exceeds my normal output requirements for a backlight. I was liking the look closer to 70% with narrow spot in that scenario. At a narrow focus and full power it was creating a far stronger separation line than I would choose to use. I was able to stand one foot from a large window on a bright and diffused day and set the unit as a backlight at 10 feet diagonally behind me.
So far I've been very happy with the output. Lux are hard to translate into real life situations when you have a simple road kit. My first pre-purchase concern was: will this be bright enough.
